After teaching Technical and Business Writing at Penn
State for ten years, Professor Pat Weaver decided it was time for a career
change. She considered her options, and accounting seemed the most attractive
avenue. Her career path led to a public accounting firm, which, oddly enough,
handled the Juniata College account. However, one thing was still missing
– teaching.
Professor Weaver joined Juniata's Accounting, Business
and Economics department 12 years ago. She spent two years away from JC while
completing her Master's degree in Business Administration at Penn State. The
classes she teaches include Accounting, Finance, and Management Information
Systems. She is also teaching the College Writing Seminar this year.
Although
she feels the grind of teaching four different subjects during the spring
semester, she still enjoys the classroom more than any other work environment.
This is particularly true with the influx of new members in the department.
She commented, "It has been a really fun time with the new staff and their
enthusiasm."
A C.P.A, Professor Weaver has co-authored a book on
business writing with her husband, a Penn State English professor. She enjoys
playing on the computer, The Phantom of the Opera, Godiva Chocolate, and Starbucks
ice cream.
